understood that learning occurs through building upon preexisting knowledge - which highlights the importance of making connections.
Students learn when they are no longer passive recipients to prescribed knowledge, but become (ideally speaking) active participants in their own learning.

I believe learning occurs through active participation - where new information is received, reflected on and applied - this often may mean a change in behaviour or way of thinking. For something to be "learned" it has to have moved beyond memorization and into a deeper understanding that is able to be explained and applied (if possible). It changes your way of thinking/doing/acting etc.
“How does what we have explored relate to learning and teaching with technology?”
I think technology gives us a medium to make self-directed learning and inquiry more possible. It allows us to be connected with the most up to date information.
